For you to do more in life, you must be able to get out of your comfort zone. Nothing of significance happens in your comfort zone.
Over time, you need to get comfortable with the idea of being uncomfortable. This is where you are going to grow your business and yourself. This is where you are going to find the best of who you are and discover new capabilities that you did not even know existed. This is where you are going to discover your true potential. For me, being uncomfortable is exciting. It means that I am doing something important!
The process of prospecting can be overwhelming and intimidating. Prospecting in some ways is the reason that so many businesses fail. Prospecting is not for everyone. It’s the one thing that your agents, downline, affiliates, and sales force dread. People don’t like to be rejected. People don’t like to be told “No”. Some folks will go out of their way to avoid being put into such a position.
This area where rejection can be found is where the magic happens. This is the area where you must venture to grow your business and find prosperity. Don’t expect to grow your business from a position of comfort. You must be prepared to go far beyond what’s comfortable. Being uncomfortable means that you will gain the confidence needed to take advantage of opportunities in your industry when they are presented. It means that you will be prepared when it matters most. Learn to embrace discomfort as it sets you up for massive success.
The more comfortable you are with being outside of your comfort zone, the more you will be able to visualize your goals, success, and more profits. To be better, you must learn to expand your comfort zone. I have prepared three tips for doing just that.
- Is it necessary? Decide if it’s necessary to step out of your comfort zone. Sometimes it’s not. Sometimes you should have nothing to prove. If the task at hand is not building you up, contributing to your future or financial gain, then there is little to no point. Don’t be concerned with impressing others. If you are going to do it, do it for you!
- Acknowledge that fear exists. Be brave enough to know that you are afraid. That is fine. Humans get scared all the time. The difference is in the behavior that follows. Are you going to cower and be dominated by your circumstances or will you stand up and move forward? Being afraid does not mean that you are weak. It means that you are normal. Acknowledging fear puts us in a vulnerable state. It is in this state that we can see who we really are and we have the opportunity to grow. We also have the opportunity to define who we are when we are vulnerable. You will be able to say “I’m afraid but that’s ok. Let’s do this thing!” It may also help for you to get a notebook and pen, then put your fears on paper. Try it.
- Test and test it again! It’s like sticking your toe into the water to access if it’s too cold or not. Most people do not want to just jump in all at once. Let’s face it, everything out there Is not for everyone. Testing is a great way to see if something is worth your time and worth pursuing. Expanding your comfort zone does not mean that the expansion has to be massive and overwhelming. Taking things one step at a time is a good way to go. Test the waters and ease into expanding your comfort zone. Take some time to reflect and think about the experience. Use that information to identify your threshold. If you feel like you have tested the waters enough and you are ready to jump in, then do it.
Expanding your comfort zone will help you to become the person that God intended for you to be. Use these tips on your quest to becoming the best version of yourself possible!
